Product Description
Denis Bédard's "Messe" (Mass) for solo organ was commissioned by Monaco Cathedral for the cathedral's centenary festivities. It was premiered by Olivier Vernet on December 8, 2011, during a solemn mass which included the benediction of the cathedral's new organ. The work is in five movements: Entrée, Méditation, Offertoire, Communion and Sortie. The Entrée, the Méditation and the Sortie are based on Gregorian chants (Salve Regina and Ave Maris Stella), whereas the Communion consists of variations on the hymn O Sanctissima. The Offertoire is a brilliant work on original themes.
