The Cranmer Anthem Book is a major project (begun in 2017) which, over a period of 10 to 15 years, will see all 88 Collects of the Book of Common Prayer, by Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556), set to music by some of the world’s finest composers. Using the Gibbons anthem Almighty and everlasting God as a model for commissioning, all the Collects will be published by the RSCM in eight volumes of 11 pieces. The pieces are being commissioned to set these beautiful texts so as to provide a set of attractive and useful works for choirs around the world. Composers in the first volume include Luke Bedford, Francis Jackson, Gabriel Jackson, Philip Moore, Tarik O’Regan, Howard Skempton, Will Todd, Judith Bingham, Cecilia McDowall, Thea Musgrave and Roxanna Panufnik.
