Robert Fayrfax was a member of the Royal Household Chapel for about twenty-five years, and seems to have been Henry VIIIs favourite composer. The large-scale Marian antiphon Lauda vivi alpha shows many signs of being a late work, notably in its reticence, harmonic colouring and sense of overall planning.
