'This anthem is the result of a good idea, superbly realized: to combine Isaac Watts's hymn text with the tune of 'O Waly Waly'. They fit like a glove, both in mood and in details of the word setting . . . The music could not have been arranged more simply with a unison, unaccompanied first verse, two-part second, SATB third, and unison with descant fourth, accompanied sparingly until the last verse. Simplicity here evokes profundity, thanks to the skill of the arrangement.' Church Music Quarterly December 03
