My Beloved Spake was written for the wedding of a friend of the composer. A vibrant piece that shows the composer's talents to the full, from the thrilling start to the lush and touching central section to the flourish of the finale. Although the organ part needs a good organist, the choral parts are well written and are suitable for an average church choir. Although using words usually associated with the wedding service, this anthem covers much that will make it suitable during the church year and would make a worthy addition to the choir repertoire.
