All wisdom cometh from the Lord was written in 1980 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lanesborough Preparatory School, from where the boy choristers of Guildford Cathedral are drawn. It was first sung at the Anniversary Service on 16 July 1980 and conducted by the composer, who at the time was Organist and Master of the Choristers of the Cathedral. A stunning work, with joyful, quirky rhythmic features, and a beautiful plainsong ending. Few will be unmoved by this beautiful anthem.
