Between the months of May 1933 and August 1934 Benjamin Britten composed a series of twelve songs with piano for children, published as Friday Afternoons Op.7 and were written for his brother's preparatory school at Prestatyn, where the singing classes took place on Fridays. This edition also includes the song Lone Dog, which was withdrawn from the cycle in 1936 due to copyright problems.
