Ave Maria was originally conceived for organ accompaniment and the score is set out with that instrument in mind. Pianists may make appropriate adjustments to allow the music to fit easily under the hand. Please note that where the term Ped appears it refers to the addition of organ pedal notes, and not to the piano sustaining pedal.
