Wiro-bound organ book

£16.50

ISBN: N1306

Inspired by Jeanette Cooper's 1987 book Hymn Tunes for the Reluctant Organist, this collection of 57 well-known hymns and Worship Songs not only offers an introduction to service accompaniment, but can be used by school pupils starting out in this area, as well as a tool for development of sight reading and transposition skills. Technical demands are equivalent to those of early grade practical keyboard exams.

“I warmly welcome this innovative collection, designed to help those with limited keyboard experience to accompany worship with increased confidence and accuracy, so best supporting and encouraging congregational singing. It will particularly be valued in churches where smaller numbers seek to maintain the tradition of hymn singing which has formed us as Christian communities.”

Guli Dehqani-Tafti, Bishop of Chelmsford

“Hymn playing is one of the church organist’s essential skills. This simple 3-part format makes the selection readily approachable for all, being invaluable for those developing their technique whilst also enabling congregations to sing with confidence.”

Hugh Morris, RSCM

"Leading the congregation in the con?dent, musical singing of hymns and worship songs is the most important responsibility and privilege of any church musician. This is equally as important in the cathedral world as it is in every small village parish church. This new volume will be an invaluable resource for less experienced keyboard players who are tasked with this fundamental role."
