The text of Suscipe quaeso, a penitential collect, would have been suitable for Cardinal Pole's form 'absolution' of England from heresy in 1554, in which year another 7-part work, the Mass Puer natus best nobis (OX49), may have been written by Tallis, perhaps marking the presence in England of the Spanish Chapel upon the marriage of Philip II and Mary I.
