This jolly setting of the Magnificat is energetic and rhythmical. It is mostly in 2/4, although there are some time signature changes within the piece. This setting is huge fun to perform, but it is not without some tricky moments. There is also a wide vocal range and the accompaniment does require a good accompanist. The setting of the Nunc Dimittis is perhaps more melodic and reflective in style than the Magnificat. It also incorporates some dramatic chords from the organ/ piano, which eventually build up to a climax. The burst of energy returns in the reprise of the Gloria. There are some tricky moments, in addition to a wide vocal range and an accompaniment that requires a good accompanist. Suitable for Services and Concerts.
