God’s Church for God’s World is the theme for the next Lambeth Conference, a decennial gathering of Anglican bishops from around the world. This service has been devised by the Very Revd Simon Aiken, Dean of the Highveld in South Africa. As befits the worldwide calling of the Church, God’s Church for God’s World includes words and music from five continents.
The service has been planned to be used in a number of ways: a festival of Hymnody, a service of music from across the globe, a festival service with a wide choice of music, and a Choral Evensong. The book includes works by Ashfield, Bairstow, Bullock, Christopher Chivers, Joanna Forbes L’Estrange, David Halls, John Harper, Harwood, Howells, Leighton, David Ogden and Richard Shephard.
God’s Church for God’s World provides a wide selection of hymns and songs, and a range and choice of choral items suitable for full SATB choir as well as those with more limited resources. Equally suitable for Area Festivals performed by hundreds and for smaller local services, this book offers a treasure store for use on many occasions, including those churches hosting visitors to The Lambeth Conference.
