A Century in Song – A Project for all
With the RSCM's centenary approaching in 2027, This '10 pieces' project offers a way of charting changing tastes, styles and aesthetics in church music across the organisation's first hundred years.
The intention is to feature one piece from each decade. Together, they create a narrative, and a lit of music that everyone should know and have the opportunity to sing.
No. 1 Brewer Evening Service in D was written in the RSCM's founding year of 1927.
No. 2 Hadley My beloved spake, published in the 1930's
No. 3 Howells Like as the hart, published in the 19040's
No. 4 Vaughan Williams O taste and see, published in the 1950's
Rehearsal tracks will be available on this page to support singers in preparing the repertoire, particularly where the music is less familiar.
