Come & Sing Evensong!
Come & Sing Evensong! events are becoming increasingly popular and this collection provides most of what you need to organise your own. It includes sets of Preces and Responses, a variety of settings of the Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis, and a range of anthems – all suitable for singing with just one rehearsal. Simon Lole, who holds a Come & Sing Evensong! every month at his church in Swanage, provides guidance on how to organise an event in your own parish, as well as performance notes for all the pieces in the book. All you need to add is some hymns, a psalm, and cake!
Simon Lole was a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral before studying at the University of London and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After periods as Director of Music at several churches (including the cathedrals of Sheffield and Salisbury) and Jesus College, Cambridge, he has had a varied career as a composer, arranger, performer and choral director. He also works as a presenter, arranger and director for several radio and TV stations, appearing regularly on the BBC’s Daily Service, Songs of Praise and Young Chorister of the Year. Since 2010 he has been Director of Music at St Mary’s Church in Swanage, Dorset.
