which children and adults take part together on equal terms. The top line of the music sung by trebles and sopranos has to be just as well done as the lower parts sung by the altos, tenors and basses.
As you can see from this brief historical survey, choristers are part of a movement which goes back to the earliest days of the Church – indeed to the time of Jesus Christ himself. Choristers should be proud they are continuing a tradition which started so long ago; they must also be thrilled to know that through their love and enjoyment of music and through their ability to sing really well, they are able to inspire and lead the worship of the Christian family at their local church, of which their choir is a significant part.
