Things to look for inside a church building
The Lectern is a special reading desk from which passages are read from the Bible. Often, the back of the Lectern is decorated with an eagle. The eagle is the sign of St John, the writer of the Fourth Gospel, which begins ‘In the beginning was the word...’ ( John 1:1)
