For four years I have been privileged to serve as Director of the Children’s Choir at St Peter & All Souls’ Roman Catholic Church, Peterborough, leading music at the Saturday night Vigil Mass. This setting is dedicated to them, but also to all who celebrate the liturgy in choir- or cantor-led congregational song with organ accompaniment, who deem this resource to be of service. The Gloria reworks an experiment at setting I made for the RSCM International Summer School in 2013, and the other movements were written in Summer 2017.
The setting does not depend on any parts being sung by the priest, though it is ideal for the priest to intone the Gloria, and sing the Preface, Eucharistic Prayer and Doxology. A congregational part is supplied which can be customised by cutting and posting as required.
This resource is provided free of charge to all RSCM affiliates and members (at the time of use). Non-members who wish to use it are welcome to make a suitable arrangement with the RSCM publishing department (01722 424848 or firstname.lastname@example.org) for payment enabling permission to use the setting.
